Jayne Buchanan

A little bit about Jayne… Jayne Buchanan

MA, BA(Hons), LTCL, ATCL, PCertLAM

A multi-faceted practitioner, passionate about dramatic art.

Jayne trained as an actor at several renowned North West adult training classes, most recently with Jim Cartwright and Karen Henthorn. She holds qualifications from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Trinity College London. In addition, Jayne earned a Master of Arts in Applied and Community Arts, as well as a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Performance.

As a member of the British Voice Association and the Society of Teachers of Speech & Drama (STSD), Jayne is deeply committed to the development of the speech and drama community. She serves as the General Secretary of the STSD and is actively involved in its ongoing activities.

Jayne works as a peripatetic Speech and Drama teacher, working with children across a range of schools in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. She helps students develop their acting and communication skills, encouraging their creativity and confidence. In 2017, Jayne achieved a significant career milestone by joining the examiner panel at LAMDA, a position she greatly enjoys. She also adjudicates at Speech and Drama Festivals both in the UK and internationally.

With an enhanced DBS check and full Public Liability Insurance, Jayne ensures her teaching and professional engagements maintain the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Before transitioning into a freelance career in Speech and Drama, Jayne worked as a Secretary and Personal Assistant from the age of eighteen, switching to a career in theatre in her thirties. Outside of work, she is married to Alan and is proud mother to two grown-up children, Jack and Lydia. The family is also kept busy by their Cockerpoo, Apollo.

For children, aged 6+ and adults, I offer affordable tuition to individuals or small groups in all aspects of Speech and Drama, either in person or online. These include:

  • Audition coaching for drama school
  • LAMDA examination coaching – all grades and disciplines
  • Lessons include appropriate resources, and a free taster session is available. Bespoke workshops can be prepared upon request.
